Transfer Guides

The Counseling Center maintains transfer guides that outline required courses that are specific to the four-year institution’s academic programs. In addition to the transfer guides, some Michigan schools participate in the new “Michigan Transfer Network” (MTN). With the MTN system, students can search by a course and by sending institution (Schoolcraft) or by receiving institution (four-year institution).

MACRAO Agreement

For now you don’t need to know what MACRAO stands for. Just know that Michigan’s two-year and four-year colleges have come together to ease the transition between their campuses. The agreement allows for 30 hours of community college credits to transfer toward the general education requirements at the four-year school. The general MACRAO guidelines are:

  • English Composition — 6 credit hours (ENG 101 & 102)
  • Science and Math — 8 credit hours (courses must be in at least two subject areas and must include one lab class)
  • Social Science — 8 credit hours (courses must be in at least two subject areas)
  • Humanities — 8 credit hours (courses must be in at least two subject areas)

Only specific courses count toward the 30 hours, and some institutions have additional requirements outside of the MACRAO guidelines. For details:

Articulation Agreements

Schoolcraft College has signed nearly 40 agreements that allow greater acceptance of programs and courses that are not typically transferable. These articulations serve as a bridge and give Schoolcraft College students additional options, such as three years at Schoolcraft and one year at the four-year college or university.

High School Articulation Agreements

Schoolcraft College has partnered with many local high schools and career and technical centers to allow students in specific programs to transfer them to Schoolcraft as course-specific credit. Students must receive a signed Passport from their instructor or high school counselor and bring it to the Schoolcraft College counseling office.

Equivalency Tables

To help students determine which courses are transferable to a college or university, we have provided links to those schools who house the lists on their websites. These equivalencies can be helpful in determining how a specific class at Schoolcraft College will transfer to a college or university. This is not an all-inclusive list. If the college or university you wish to transfer to is not listed, please contact that school directly for transfer information. Additional equivalency information can be found at the Michigan Transfer Network.

Transfer Visits

Many four-year institutions recruit students from Schoolcraft College. Recruiters will be available to guide you through the admissions process, answer questions about programs or scholarships and act as a valuable point-of-contact while you are searching for a school to transfer to. The transfer visit schedule dates are shown on the calendar.

How to Transfer

Many students know they want to transfer, but don’t know how to get there. Once you know which school you want to transfer to, check their website to inquire about application deadlines. Most schools will allow you to apply online — check them out on the MACRAO website.

After applying to the school, request official transcripts from all previously attended schools, including Schoolcraft, to be mailed to the receiving institution. At Schoolcraft, you can request official transcripts at the Admissions and Enrollment Center. If you’ve met the MACRAO guidelines, then make sure to request the MACRAO stamp on your transcript.

Tuition and Fees

Check with your Counselor or Academic Advisor!

Transfer guides, articulation agreements and MACRAO are all tools to help you with your transfer — a counselor or academic advisor can help you understand and use these tools for a successful transfer. You can either make an appointment with a counselor or walk-in during office hours to meet with an academic advisor.
