1098-T Information
What is Form 1098-T?
The 1098-T is the IRS Tuition Statement. Eligible educational institutions are required by the federal government to send Form 1098-T to students for whom payments for qualified tuition and fees were received in calendar year 2019.
When will the paper forms be sent?

If I receive Form 1098-T, does it mean I qualify for the Lifetime Learning Tax Credit or an American Opportunity Credit?
No. The college is required to provide Form 1098-T to individuals any time payments were received for qualified tuition and fees during calendar year 2019. What if I think the information on the 1098-T is incorrect?
If you believe the information provided is incorrect, please call 734-462-4586 with your name and student ID number. We find that most of the confusion relates to how the amounts are determined. Keep in mind that the Form 1098-T amounts are determined by calendar year and may not coincide with semesters. For example, if you registered for Winter classes and paid some of your tuition in December and the remaining tuition amount was paid in January the tuition amounts will be reflected on different years Form 1098-T.
Why did I not receive a 1098-T when I attended Schoolcraft College?
There are several possibilities including but not limited to:
- You attended Schoolcraft College in Winter 2019 but you registered and paid in calendar year 2018. (This information would have been represented on your 2018 Form 1098-T)
- We do not have a valid United States mailing address on file for you.
- You are classified as a non-resident alien.
- You registered for only non-credit courses.
What if I didn’t get a 1098-T form?
If you feel you should have received a Form 1098-T but did not, please verify that the form was not mailed to an invalid address. You can reprint any previously released Form 1098-T from Ocelot Access.
I am an international student; can I claim a credit?
