CAHIIM Accreditation Information

CAHIIM Accredited Program

The Health Information Management accreditor of the Health Information Technology program at Schoolcraft College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).  The College’s accreditation for the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology is in the reaffirmation review process in 2020-2021.  All inquiries about the program’s accreditation status should be directed by mail to CAHIIM, 200 East Randolph Street, Suite 5100, Chicago, IL, 60601; by phone at (312) 235-3255; or by email at [email protected]

Program Outcomes

Students successfully completing this CAHIIM-accredited program are eligible to take the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Each year the program completes a yearly Annual Program Assessment Review (APAR) for CAHIIM.

A survey is sent to graduates each year.  The results from the Fall 2025 survey show that 14 surveys were sent to graduates and that there were 8 respondents.

Outcomes from the survey include:

  • 100% of respondents to the survey rated the quality of the Schoolcraft Health Information Technology (HIT) Program as Excellent/Good Overall
  • 100% of respondents reported being employed (88% Full Time, 13% Part Time)
  • 63% of respondents reported being employed in a position directly related to their education in the HIT Program at Schoolcraft.

The Health Information Technology Program had a 100% graduation rate for the 2024-2025 academic year.

In addition, the Health Information Technology Program showed a 100% first time pass rate for graduates taking the RHIT exam from August 2024-April 2025.

An RHIT credential is highly regarded by employers in southeastern Michigan and can lead to excellent employment opportunities. Learn more information about the benefits of certification.

These public disclosure requirements apply to all programs, regardless of their modality (i.e., on-ground, online, and hybrid programs).
