CDC Respiratory Virus Recommendations
Recommended actions:
- Stay up-to-date with vaccines and practice good hygiene.
- Get tested if you have symptoms or have been exposed. If you test positive, speak to a health care provider for treatment options.
- Wear a mask if you have symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with respiratory illness. You may choose to wear a mask at any time as an additional precaution to protect yourself and others.
If you experience respiratory virus symptoms:
- Stay home when not well and follow CDC’s recommendations.
Everyone, regardless of vaccination status:

- See a health care provider for testing and treatment.
- You may return to campus when your symptoms are getting better overall, and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours.
Important Information for Students
Notify your instructor(s) if you become ill and will not be able to participate in class. Policies regarding late work/missed assignments are at the discretion of the instructor. If your symptoms persist or are severe enough that you’re unsure whether you can complete you course(s), check the Important Dates for drop or withdraw options. If you are using Financial Aid funding to pay for classes, please contact their office at 734-462-4433 to ensure a drop or withdraw will not have a negative impact on your funding.
