**Pre‑Service Students (Self‑Sponsored)
Application Due Date: 11/09/2026
For the Pre-Service Deadline the completed packet must be submitted by 11/09/2026 to be considered for an interview for academy admission.
In-Service Students (Sponsored by a Dept)
Application Due Date: 12/08/2026
The In-Service Deadline is a hard due date of 12/08/2026. The completed academy packet must be turned in by the due date to be considered an entry in the police academy.
**Students that are sponsoring themselves (pre-service) can pick up the police academy packet at our location (see address below). We will need to see your Driver’s License when you pick up a packet.
Winter 2027 Police Academy
Academy Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age and must be a United States Citizen
- Possess Good moral character
- Must have a valid Driver’s License, including:
- Not on a probationary license
- No license suspension in the last 5 years
- No serious violations in the last 5 years
- No more than 3 minor violations in the past 3 years
- Must have completed the MCOLES Reading/Writing Test
- Must have completed the MCOLES Physical Fitness Agility Test after July 14, 2026 (Test dates are at www.Michigan.gov/mcoles)
- Pre Service Students must have an associate’s degree by graduation
Other Important Dates:
- Mandatory Orientation: Friday, January 8, 2027
- Academy Starts: Monday, January 11, 2027
- Graduation: Thursday, May 6, 2027
