The International Center

Supporting International Students Every Step of the Way
Our office is dedicated to helping F-1 international students thrive—academically, personally, and professionally. From maintaining immigration status to building community, we provide the guidance, resources, and space you need to feel confident and supported throughout your journey.
Our Services
Academic Advising
Advising You Can Count On
We offer individualized academic advising tailored to the unique needs of international students. Whether you’re planning your course schedule, understanding academic policies, or preparing for graduation or transfer to a Bachelor’s degree program, our advisors are here to help you make informed decisions and stay on track toward your goals.
Transfer Options
If your goal is to transfer to a Bachelor’s degree program, we work closely with you to ensure that the courses you take are transferable towards your next program.
We have several partnerships with local Colleges and Universities to maximize your credits and assist you with the transition to a new school. All our transfer degree programs have the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) built into the curriculum.
F-1 Status Support & Guidance
Maintaining F-1 status is essential, and we’re here to help you navigate the process with clarity and confidence. Our office provides guidance on enrollment requirements, employment eligibility, travel considerations, and other key responsibilities so you can remain in compliance while focusing on your studies.
Workshops & Educational Programs
We host workshops throughout the year designed to support your academic success and life in the U.S. Topics may include:
- Maintaining F-1 status
- Employment options and practical training
- Academic success strategies
- Cultural adjustment and campus resources
These sessions are a great way to learn, ask questions, and connect with fellow students.
Other Offerings
A Dedicated International Student Lounge
Our office is also home to a student lounge exclusively for international students—a welcoming space to relax, study, and build community. Whether you are taking a break between classes or meeting friends, the lounge is a place where you belong.
Reflection Rooms
Schoolcraft College has two dedication reflection rooms on campus located in the Biomedical Technology Center (BTC 336 & 340)
Open to individuals of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds, the space is intentionally neutral and inclusive. It provides a calm environment for prayer, mindfulness, and reflection. These rooms are available to support your spiritual needs anytime that the building is open.
Student Events
Our International Office is more than a place for support — it’s a hub for connection and community. Throughout the year, we host engaging events designed to help students network, build friendships, and feel at home on campus. From cultural celebrations to professional development gatherings, our programs create opportunities to connect across cultures and grow together.
We’re also proud to support our International Student Organization (ISO), a student-led group that brings global voices together. Through social events, leadership opportunities, and cultural exchange, ISO helps foster a welcoming, inclusive community where every student can belong and thrive.
