Barbara Crooker was the 2023 guest judge for The MacGuffin’s Poet Hunt 28 and a featured contributor to the magazine. Crooker is the author of more than ten books of poetry, a sixty-one–time nominee for the Pushcart Prize, and a Grammy finalist. Her poetry unfolds the intricacy of human vulnerability and spirituality through a close investigation of the natural world and the rituals of daily life.

Kathleen McClung is the outreach coordinator for the expanding audience of The MacGuffin readers on the West Coast, and recently served as the magazine’s guest editor. McClung is the author of four books of poetry, the most recent, A Juror Must Fold in on Herself, explores the complications of serving as a juror, while also serving as a witness to the injustices endured by both victims and perpetrators in an unjust world. McClung writes in formal and free verse, as well as memoir and fiction.
