Prepare for Your Meeting
Meeting with your advisor is an important step. A little preparation will help you get the most out of it!
Do These First
Before your appointment, make sure you:
- Finish orientation
- Send your transcripts or test scores
- Fill out your FAFSA (financial aid form)
- Set up your student accounts
Think About Your Goals
You don’t need to have everything figured out. Just start thinking about:
- Jobs or careers you might like
- If you want to transfer to a university
- Classes or subjects you enjoy
Bring Questions
Write down a few questions before you go. For example:
- What classes should I take first?
- What do I need to graduate?
- How do I transfer later?
Know Yourself as a Student
Think about your past school experience:
- What went well?
- What was hard?
- Do you need help with studying or time management?
Your advisor can connect you to support services.
Be Ready to Participate
During your meeting:
- Take notes
- Ask questions
- Be honest about your goals (it’s okay if you’re unsure!)
Remember: Your advisor is here to help you succeed. Come prepared so you can make the best plan for your future!
