Course Overview
The vascular ultrasound certificate program is designed for students who are registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers who wish to obtain the structured education necessary to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) post-primary certification examination. Courses will also include video-based scanning competencies ensuring participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
This course provides all the didactic knowledge required by ARDMS in an online format, meeting 2 hours weekly for 16 weeks.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will learn to:
- Apply ergonomic techniques for sonographers
- Understand ultrasound and vascular Doppler instrumentation
- Master vascular physics, hemodynamics, and image optimization
- Perform and document vascular sonographic exams
- Assess normal and abnormal vascular flow patterns
- Identify congenital and acquired vascular anomalies
- Evaluate post‑procedural vasculature (e.g., EVAR, stents, bypass grafts)
- Recognize critical findings and communicate effectively in clinical settings
- Apply patient care, infection control, and ethical standards in ultrasound
- Prepare for the vascular registry exam with mock testing
