Computed Tomography Structured Education
Course Overview
Schoolcraft College’s Computed Tomography (CT) Structured Education program is designed for registered Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Radiation Therapists (ARRT), and Nuclear Medicine Technologists (ARRT or NMTCB) who are seeking the structured education required to sit for the ARRT post-primary certification exam.
Delivered fully online, this 16-week program provides 32 hours of structured instruction covering CT principles, patient care, safety, cross-sectional anatomy, imaging protocols, contrast media, radiation physics, and exam preparation. Students meet weekly online for two hours of guided instruction with additional case studies, discussions, and practice exam activities. Sessions are also recorded for students who are unable to attend the online session. Students who complete all sessions will receive 32.5 CEU credits.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will gain the knowledge and competencies to:
- Explore the history and evolution of CT and its clinical applications.
- Understand CT system components, image acquisition, and reconstruction.
- Apply patient care and safety standards, including radiation dose reduction and ALARA principles.
- Evaluate CT images for quality, anatomy, pathology, and artifact reduction.
- Demonstrate venipuncture techniques and contrast administration procedures.
- Review medical law, ethics, and patient rights in CT practice.
- Prepare for the ARRT CT certification exam with targeted content review and test-taking strategies.
