Make-up Testing
Students sometimes miss a test because of absence, illness or other extenuating circumstances. Permission to make up a missed exam is the decision of the instructor.
Prohibited items in Testing Room:
Cell phones, books/notes, personal belongings, food/drink, electronics, calculator lids, pencil cases, purses/bags, coats, winter/winter scarves, watches/Smart watches/Fitbits, Hats/hoods/non-religious head coverings, Earbuds/iPods/personal headphones.
Cell phones and other electronics must be off and placed in lockers.
General Rules/Guidelines:
- Students must make an appointment for testing. Anyone arriving without an appointment may not be allowed to test. Anyone arriving after a scheduled appointment window may not be allowed to test.
- Original photo identification must be presented before an exam can be administered. Acceptable ID must be the original document bearing a recent photo and first and last name. Copies, photocopies, and/or phone images will not be accepted.
- Test instructions provided on a Testing Card by your instructor cannot be altered without the instructor’s permission given directly to Testing Center Staff.
- Students are responsible for testing and timing instructions as given by Testing Center Staff.
- The Testing Center is under constant video monitoring and recording.
- Tests cannot be started within ½ hour of closing.
- Unless specified by the instructor, any exam is the decision of the instructor.
- Disability accommodation is granted by the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS). The Testing Center cannot provide students with accommodations beyond those granted by DSS Office.
- Lockers will be provided for personal belongings and prohibited testing items. Lockers may not be accessed during testing or during restroom breaks.
- Individuals may not be accompanied by anyone while testing. Students, staff, and visitors are not permitted to leave non-enrolled minors unattended on college property or in campus buildings. Schoolcraft College employees cannot monitor unattended minors.
- Online course exams for Mathematics are given according to the schedule on the instructor’s syllabus for each course. Proctoring fees are NOT applied to Schoolcraft Online (Distance Learning) exams.
- If you are wearing an item that should not be removed for cultural or religious purposes (such as a hijab, turban, Kara, etc.) please inform the Testing Center upon check-in.
- Ear plugs and/or noise-canceling headphones are available upon request.
- Test materials are to remain within the Testing Center.
- If you have any questions or concerns about the test environment or need assistance, please quietly notify the Testing Center Staff.
- BREAKS/RESTROOM USE: Use the restroom before or after your test. If it is necessary to use the restroom during a test, students must obtain TC Staff approval before leaving the Testing Center and must not leave the 2nd floor of McDowell. Students must sign out and back in on the provided Restroom Break Log. If an instructor states that breaks are prohibited during a test, the TC staff will not approve the break. Please note that frequent or extended (~5+ minutes) breaks may be a test irregularity and may be reported to the instructor.
- Respect others by remaining quiet during your exam.
- Cheating will NOT be tolerated. No exceptions.
- Violations of the Student Code of Conduct will be reported to the instructor and to Student Relations via the SC Aware system.
- Students exhibiting disruptive behavior will be given an opportunity to stop the behavior. Should the behavior continue, your exam will be completed in a sperate area of the Testing Center, your instructor will be alerted, and the Student Relations Office will be notified so the behavior can be reviewed under the Student Code of Conduct. Examples of disruptive behavior include, but are not limited to coughing, talking, humming, singing, foot-tapping, emitting excessive odor, and pen/pencil tapping. Students exhibiting disruptive behaviors a second time will not be allowed to complete their exam.
General Information
Students testing in the Center may purchase scantrons for 25¢. Scrap paper is available if needed. For make-up and distance learning testing, students should come into The Testing Center knowing the name of the instructor and class.
