Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Supplemental Instruction (formerly known as Peer Assisted Learning or PAL) offers structured study sessions facilitated by peer students (SI Leaders) who have already taken a course, done well in it, and are highly recommended to the program by the instructor.
SI study sessions are weekly-held reviews for all students, whether struggling or doing well, who are enrolled in courses that offer the SI program. SI study sessions provide a comfortable environment for students who want to improve their understanding of the course content. SI Leaders are peers who share their own successful study strategies to help students succeed in the course. SI Leaders are trained in facilitation techniques and use the Socratic Method to promote critical thinking and problem solving.
Currently, the program is offered for select STEAM and Occupational Programs courses each semester. SI Leaders may be available for other disciplines as well. For general queries or if you would like to know more about which courses currently offer the SI Program, please contact the Learning Support Services via email: [email protected].
