You also must be eligible for the Post-9\/11 GI Bill<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;or the Montgomery GI Bill<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;&#8211; Active Duty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Application.<\/strong>&nbsp;First apply for TA in accordance with procedures of your service branch. After you have applied for TA, you will need to complete VA Form 22-1990 to apply for Department of Veterans Affairs education benefits. The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.va.gov\/vaforms\/\">form<\/a>&nbsp;is available online from the VA. Make sure you specify &#8220;Top-up&#8221; on the application and mail it one of the education processing offices listed on the form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FTA Student Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications for vouchers must be submitted up to 60 days prior to the class start date and no later than 5 business days before the class start date (all FTA must be approved prior to the class start date).&nbsp; Students using FTA must submit their TA authorization voucher to Schoolcraft&#8217;s office of Student Accounts and notify the Mark L. Whitfield Veterans &amp; Military Services Center.&nbsp; If receiving other tuition and fees specific benefits such as GI Bill\u00ae or financial aid awards, the TA plan or other resource may be reduced.&nbsp; Fees, books, and supplies are not covered.&nbsp; This is a tuition-only program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unearned Military Tuition Assistance (TA) Funds Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with Department of Defense (DOD) policy, Schoolcraft College is required to return unearned TA funds on a proportional basis through the 60 percent completion point of the course for which the funds were provided. TA funds are earned proportionally during a course, with unearned funds returned based upon when a student stops attending the course. Instances of active duty service members withdrawing due to military service obligations will be accommodated to mitigate student loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Courses dropped during the 100% refund period: 0% tuition billed to TA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Courses graded as NS (No Show): 0% tuition billed to TA;100% tuition billed to student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course completion 1-29%: 40% tuition billed to TA; 60% tuition billed to student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course completion 30-59%: 70% tuition billed to TA; 30% tuition billed to student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course completion 60-100%: 100% tuition billed to TA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notification of Schoolcraft College\u2019s Process for Readmission of Service Members<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Schoolcraft College is committed to supporting our service members. In accordance with federal regulations, the following outlines the process for readmission of students who must temporarily leave the College due to military service:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Notification Prior to Military Service:<\/strong> Students who receive orders for active-duty military service must notify the Veterans &amp; Military Services Center as far in advance as reasonably possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Intent to Return:<\/strong> Upon completion of their military service, students have up to three (3) years to notify Schoolcraft College\u2014either orally or in writing\u2014of their intent to return.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the student is hospitalized or recovering from an illness or injury incurred during military service, they have up to two (2) years from the date of recovery to provide this notice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"move-up-25\"><strong>Readmission Guidelines:<\/strong> Service members who follow this process will be readmitted:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the next available semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To the same academic program, at the same enrollment status and academic standing held at the time of departure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With recognition of any previously earned credits applicable to the program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"move-up-25\"><strong>Program Changes:<\/strong> If the student\u2019s original academic program is no longer offered, the Veterans &amp; Military Services Center will assist in identifying and transitioning the student to the most comparable program available, unless the student elects to pursue a different program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length of Absence Limitation: <\/strong>To qualify for this readmission process, the cumulative length of absence due to military service may not exceed five (5) years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For questions or assistance regarding this process, students are encouraged to contact the Veterans &amp; Military Services Center directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"color:#ddd\" class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-spacer gb-block-spacer gb-divider-solid gb-spacer-divider gb-divider-size-1\"><hr style=\"height:50px\"\/><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mingstap\">MINGSTAP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Provides tuition assistance to members of the Michigan National Guard who are attending any public or private college, university, vocational school, technical school located in Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MINGSTAP is available to members of the Michigan National Guard who (1) are active in the National Guard (including the traditional service of one weekend\/month and two weeks\/year; (2) are not absent without leave or under UCMJ charges; and (3) meet the additional criteria established by the TAG consistent with the guard&#8217;s recruiting and retention requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/dmva\/about\/mingstap\">Michigan National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program (MINGSTAP)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/dmva\/0,4569,7-126-2360_68898---,00.html\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/documents\/dmva\/FREQUENTLY_ASKED_QUESTIONS_576610_7.pdf\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-normal-font-size\">MINGSTAP Student Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications may be submitted up to 60 days prior to the class start date and must be submitted no more that 14 days after the class start date.&nbsp; MINGSTAP pays up to $14,400 for an Associates Degree and up to $6000 for a Certificate per academic year; and also covers additional fees.&nbsp; Students should notify the Mark L.
