\u201cBeing an international student at Schoolcraft has been an intensive learning journey. In the classroom, I\u2019ve always been surrounded by professors and classmates who are respectful and understanding, always willing to help me deepen my understanding of the subjects whenever needed. Beyond academics, playing competitive soccer has been a highlight, allowing me to travel to different states, visit other universities, build great connections, and be part of an amazing Athletics Department.

I am particularly grateful for the welcoming academic community. Everyone has been incredibly supportive of my needs, from the International Advisors, for whom I have a special appreciation, to the Student Employment office that helped me find a job on campus. Working at the Fitness Center has been great for my personal development, and being part of the school newspaper has allowed me to meet amazing people and stay truly connected with everything happening at the college. \u201cComing to Schoolcraft College as an international student from Ivory Coast has been a life-changing experience. Moving to a new country came with challenges, but it also pushed me to grow academically and personally. At Schoolcraft, I found a supportive environment where advisor, professor and faculty staff genuinely care about student success and where I have been able to pursue my passion for Business Administration, with a focus on Supply Chain Management and Data Analytics.

Beyond the classroom, working as a Blackboard Support Student Employee has allowed me to develop strong problem-solving and customer service skills while helping other students succeed. My experience at Schoolcraft has helped me become more independent, disciplined, and confident in my goals. \u201cMoving to the United States was not an easy decision for me, and my journey started with some serious challenges with another college. In many ways, Schoolcraft became my rescue. The International Office took the time to guide me, explain my options, and help me through the process. I felt incredibly welcomed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, my experience at Schoolcraft has been full of support and opportunities. I am very happy with the quality of my classes and professors, I truly enjoy spending time on campus. And was even able to find a job at the college \u2014 something that means a lot for an international student. I also received a scholarship for my academic achievements and joined the Student Ambassador program, where I met amazing people and developed new skills. Meet Avlochan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy name is Avlochan Singh, and I am an international student from India pursuing an associate in applied science in Accounting at Schoolcraft College. I began my journey at Schoolcraft in Fall 2023 after hearing strong recommendations about the college being one of the best institutions in Wayne County. Moving to a new country and adapting to a different education system was both exciting and challenging. At first, understanding how the American academic system works was not easy, but the supportive faculty and staff at Schoolcraft played a huge role in helping me adjust and succeed. Their guidance and encouragement made my transition smoother and helped me gain confidence in my academic journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My experience at Schoolcraft has been incredibly rewarding. Classes like Accounting 201 and CIS 120 helped me build a strong foundation in my field and sparked my passion for accounting and business. One of the things I admire most about Schoolcraft is its welcoming environment, beautiful infrastructure, and expansive campus that provides students with many opportunities to learn and grow. Being actively involved in student organizations such as the International Student Association and the Asian Student Association has allowed me to connect with people from different cultures and build meaningful friendships. Schoolcraft has not only helped me grow academically but has also shaped me personally by teaching me resilience, leadership, and the value of community.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Meet Muhammed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI moved to the United State from The Gambia in Fall 2023 to pursue my education and build a futurein technology. Adjusting to a new country and academic system was both exciting and challenging, but Schoolcraft College quickly became a supportive environment where I could grow both personally and academically. In December of 2025, I completed my Associates in Cybersecurity, an achievement that represents a major milestone in my journey.

As an international student, the International Student Center has been incredibly helpful throughout my time here. From guidance on maintaining my status to answering questions about OPT and transfer planning, their support made a significant difference. I am currently on OPT gaining practical experience and plan to transfer to Eastern Michigan University in the future to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity. I am truly grateful for the resources, encouragement and community I found at Schoolcraft.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI originally chose Schoolcraft College as an international student mainly because of its affordability, but it ended up being one of the best decisions I could have made. Moving from the Middle East to the United States was a huge adjustment, and everything felt very new at first. I’m lucky that Schoolcraft made that transition much easier. Schoolcraft features small class sizes, which made it easy to get to know my professors and connect with them. They genuinely cared about helping students succeed and were always understanding of cultural and religious differences. During my time there, I also became very involved on campus. I worked at the Learning Center as both a tutor and front desk staff member, where I made a lot of friends that I will forever cherish. I also helped co-found the International Student Organization where I later served as Vice President. Being involved made campus feel much more like a community rather than just a place to take classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most important places for me on campus was the International Office. They helped me with everything from class advising to immigration questions, but over time they became much more than just advisors. I eventually started stopping by their office just to say hello or talk whenever I had free time\u2026 sometimes when I was bored. I like to joke that I bothered them a lot, but they always seemed happy to see me anyway. Schoolcraft gave me the foundation I needed before transferring to Eastern Michigan University, both academically and personally. My advice to other international students is to get involved, work on campus if you can, join student organizations, and connect with professors and staff. And most importantly, build a relationship with the International Office \u2014 they\u2019re not only incredibly helpful, but also some of the most fun people to talk to on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
