{"id":25,"date":"2022-06-02T12:25:18","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T12:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stgschoolcraft.wpengine.com\/dss\/?page_id=25"},"modified":"2025-12-23T13:51:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T13:51:31","slug":"accommodations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.schoolcraft.edu\/dss\/accommodations\/","title":{"rendered":"Accommodations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accommodations<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list list-spacing\">\n<li>Accommodations are individually arranged through the Disability Support Services (DSS) office with the disability support services advocate.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DSS students are protected under 504\/ADA from being identified with a disability therefore the DSS office provides an accommodation memo to students to present to faculty. With a student\u2019s consent, an accommodation memo can be sent to a designated faculty member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must meet with their instructors and let them know what accommodations they want to use. Common accommodations requested are:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Testing:&nbsp;<\/strong>Indicate to&nbsp;the instructor to send the test to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schoolcraft.edu\/testing-center\/\">Testing Cente<\/a>r&nbsp;<em>one week<\/em>&nbsp;before the test date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recording Device:<\/strong>&nbsp;Bring to class and listen to recording after class, writing down important ideas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Note Taker:&nbsp;<\/strong>Students can ask their instructor for assistance in finding a note taker.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Distraction Free Space or use of Read\/Write software:<\/strong>&nbsp;Students will contact the Testing Center at least&nbsp;<em>one week<\/em>&nbsp;before the test to make arrangements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advance notice of in-class reading\/writing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid unexpected classroom interaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"move-up-25\">Accommodations are available for all future terms as long as the accommodations are directly tied to the current impact of the disability.
