Open Entry/Open Exit Course Specific Requirements

All OE/OE coursework can be completed in the OE/OE lab or in the McDowell Building Computer Labs. However, if you wish to work from home, below is a listing of the software needed by course.

The following Open Entry/Open Exit courses have specific requirements in addition to the general computer system requirements:

Software and Equipment Requirements

  • CIS 105 requires Microsoft Office 2013 or Above or Open Office.
  • CIS 115 see Internet requirements above; requires Word 2013 or above. Requires you to submit assignments containing photographs that you have taken. This can be accomplished with a device capable of taking a picture such as a digital camera or cell phone.
  • CIS 120 requires Microsoft Office 365 University or Professional, SNAP (Windows 7 or higher, Internet Explorer 11, Firefox 44.0, Chrome 49.0, Edge 25) SNAP 365 (MACs only).
  • CIS 122 requires Microsoft Outlook 2016 required or compatible email account.
  • CIS 129 requires PYTHON 3.4.2 or above (can be downloaded free).
  • CIS 170 requires Microsoft Word 2007 or later to submit assignments. Microsoft Windows 10 highly recommended, but optional (Windows 10 is available in the OE/OE lab).
  • CIS 171 requires a recent version of an HTML5 capable web browser. This includes one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 10 or later, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera.
  • CIS 172 requires Microsoft Office 2010 or newer. Windows 7/8.1/10, Mac OS 10.8 or higher. HTML5 capable modern browser (Internet Explorer 10 or higher, Firefox 42 or higher, Chrome 31 or higher, Safari). Online access code required and is available in the Schoolcraft Bookstore. 
  • CIS 176 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version (can be downloaded for free).
  • CIS 178 requires Windows 7/8.1/10, Mac OS 10.8 or higher.  HTML5 capable modern browser (Internet Explorer 10 or higher, Firefox 42 or higher, Chrome 31 or higher, Safari) Online access code required and is available in the Schoolcraft Bookstore.
  • CIS 180 requires Microsoft Excel 2016, Office 2016.
  • CIS 185 requires a text editor (Notepad ++), and Internet access. For Windows:  Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher; for Macintosh: Safari 3.0.
  • CIS 211 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version (can be downloaded for free).
  • CIS 215 requires Microsoft Office 2016 or Office 2016 software that accompanies the book/MyITlab.
  • CIS 221 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version (can be downloaded for free).
  • CIS 223 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version (can be downloaded for free).
  • CIS 225 Microsoft Access 2016 or Office 2016 Pro that includes Access or Office Software that accompanies the book/MyITlab.
  • CIS 235 requires an online access code that is available in the Schoolcraft Bookstore.
  • CIS 238 requires Aptana Studio 3.6.1. See Internet requirements.
  • CIS 251 requires Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and software that accompanies the book. See Internet requirements.
  • CIS 273 requires Office 2007 or higher. Recent version of HTML capable web browser. This includes one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 10 or later, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera.
  • CIS 290 requires JAVA Developers Environment(jGrasp/Eclipse classic) that can be downloaded from the Internet.
