Accounting

Career Outlook

Virtually every business and organization requires personnel to manage their financials, and Schoolcraft College’s Accounting program can prepare you for a career as an accountant, auditor, bookkeeper or tax preparer.

What will I learn?

Our courses focus on the principals of accounting, income tax preparation, payroll and use of today’s accounting software.

The Accounting program offers students three educational options:

  • Accounting Certificate: This certificate program prepares students for a position as an entry-level bookkeeper.
  • Accounting for Small Business Skills Certificate: This certificate is designed for those interested in or currently working at a small business or organization as a bookkeeper and enhances their potential for a small-business management position.
  • Accounting AAS Degree: The associate degree option is the first step for those who are interested in a career as an accountant or auditor, and also prepares them to transfer to a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree.
