CES 4288 - Osteoporosis: Get the Facts
Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and structural deterioration of bone tissue, resulting in compromised bone strength. Nearly half of all women and one quarter of men over 50 years of age will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture during their lifetime. Osteoporosis and osteoporotic-fractures are major causes of disease and mortality in the United States. Prevention, early detection, and treatment are keys to alleviating this serious problem. Gain current data on the pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options for osteoporosis in both men and women. This class is worth 2 continuing education contact hours for nurses.*
