CES 2424 - Antique Book Cake: Hands-on
As seen on the Food Network "Sugar Rush" - Double Take Episode, learn how to create antique books with rolled fondant. Discover how to obtain rich colors that look like leather, sculpt your cake and apply fondant seamlessly, create pages in the book and add writing on your book cover. Then detail your cake with various techniques such as imprinting, rolled fondant writing textured tiles and lustre dust-painting techniques. Bring the following to class: two layers of 8" or 10" square baked cake, cardboard to fit underneath the cake, a serrated knife, an icing knife/spatula, a turntable, nylon sock, rolling pin, fondant smoothers (2), circular blade (pizza cutter), x-acto knife, hard ruler (at least 12 inches long), tape measure, small pair of food scissors, ball tooler (gum paste tool), imprinter/stamp from craft store (elegant scroll or leaf pattern), paint brush (thin tip), small bowl to mix lustre dust. These supplies can be found at Heinrichs Cake Decorating Nook, Michaels, JoAnne Fabric or Meijer. No prerquisite required.*
