From Chocolate Chips to Micro Chips to Blue Chips (CHIPS): A Program for Those in Transition
This one-stop program assists those in transition by providing assertiveness training, guided career exploration, job-related skills identification, interviewing techniques, job-hunting strategies, educational counseling, assistance in applying for school-related financial aid, a support group with others and job placement guidance (HDS 110). Keyboarding and computer orientation classes are offered, and a clothing boutique is available for participants. A second semester CHIPS Too program includes Microsoft Word for Windows (OIS 165) and Personal Finance (BUS 204) for a total of 12 credit hours.
Divorce Support Group
A divorce support group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. There are guided group discussions and presentations by lawyers, therapists, mediators and financial planners. There is no fee to attend and participants need not pre-register. A schedule of speakers is available quarterly.
The first Monday of each month from October through May, a Certified Divorce Planner is available free of charge. On the second and third Monday of each month, a lawyer is available for free consultations. These consultations are scheduled from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on a first-come, first-served basis. Special Populations Program
This program, administered through the WRC, provides tuition assistance, support services and/or programs for single parents, displaced homemakers, those with limited English proficiency, academically disadvantaged, economically disadvantaged, individuals with a disability and nontraditional job seekers who are enrolled. WRC Scholarships
Women’s Resource Center scholarships are available to those who may or may not qualify for federal or state financial aid. The WRC works vigorously to ensure scholarship opportunities are available for all with a special emphasis on adults returning to school. Scholarship information is available at the WRC.
Luncheon Series
The WRC sponsors six luncheons each year, featuring speakers on a variety of topics. Contact the WRC for a current schedule.
