Health Information Technology Club

Healthcare is an expanding industry and service in the community. In that expansion is the evolution of careers in Health Information Management (HIM). Schoolcraft offers a coding certificate program that falls under HIM and also offers the Health Information Technology (HIT) associate degree.

Being enrolled in the HIT program makes one eligible to sit for the Health Information Technician exam through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

The HIT Club’s main goal is to help equip new students in the HIM programs with the tools necessary to obtain a job in the HIM field. This is done through advertising available scholarships, specialized tutoring, job postings, communication through the HIT Club website and newsletter, networking at club functions, and various fundraisers through the school year.
