Schoolcraft College will host A Tribute to Dave Brubeck, a series of jazz music clinics and performances. Brubeck's longtime producer, Russell Gloyd, will be the featured speaker and performer throughout the weekend.

This year's annual School Daze event offers a wide variety of activities for students, faculty, staff and the community to participate in from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., September 14-16, 2010.
Two more musical concerts at Schoolcraft College in October
There are two more concerts remaining in Schoolcraft College's Music Department October schedule of performances. On Sunday, October 24, the Wind Ensemble and Synthesizer Ensemble will present their annual Halloween Concert and Children’s Costume parade. On Tuesday, October 26, the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Improvisation Ensemble will perform at the Novi Senior Center at 7 p.m.

The Schoolcraft College Foundation will host the 29th Annual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships golf outing, continuing its proud and strong legacy of providing scholarships to Schoolcraft College students on Mon., June 3, at the Walnut Creek Country Club, South Lyon.
Electric Vehicle Show Sat., June 8 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Schoolcraft College will host the Fifth Annual Electric Vehicle Show, which features an opportunity to ride or drive the latest electric vehicles. The Show is free and open to the public. This event is a great opportunity for the public to see all kinds of EVs and Plug-In Hybrid cars up-close, talk to the owners and learn about all of the accessories that are used with electric vehicles.
Duo performs Apr. 24 to close out Noon Concert Series for 2012-13
On Wed., Apr. 24, violinist Kirk Toth and pianist Michele Cooker will perform a free concert at noon in the VisTaTech Center. The program will feature the works of Jean Marie Leclair, Claude Debussy, Cesar Franck and Manuel de Falla.
Choral Union concert celebrates springtime on Sat., Apr. 20
The Schoolcraft College Choral Union will present a special spring-themed concert on Sat., Apr. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Church of Christ in Livonia. The concert is free and open to the public.
Annual concert showcases various musical genres
The 22nd annual Schoolcraft College Collage Concert, Collage XXII, will be held Sat., Apr. 27, at 8 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for students with identification, and $3.00 for children and seniors.
Schoolcraft College sponsors events during Alcohol Awareness month
On Wed., Apr. 10, Schoolcraft College will host an Alcohol Awareness Information Session at 1 p.m. On Thurs., Apr. 11, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. the college will offer free screenings, the opportunity to speak privately with a counselor, and other resources. Both events will be held in the McDowell Center.
Local author will discuss "The Twelve Gifts of Life" at Transition Center Luncheon
Local author, Cindy Champnella, will discuss her new book, The Twelve Gifts of Life, on Fri., Apr. 5, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. as part of the Transition Center's luncheon series. The luncheon and presentation will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia. Tickets are $20 per person and include lunch. Reservations must be made in advance by Fri., Mar. 29.
Take a trip around the world at annual Multicultural Fair on March 28
Now in its twelfth year, the Multicultural Fair features cultural displays, performances, language demonstrations, and ethnic snacks. This fair is free and open to the public and will be held Thurs., Mar. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center.

It’s never too early to start planning for college. Area middle school-age students and their parents are invited to Schoolcraft College’s annual Middle School College Night event in the VisTaTech Center on Tues., Mar. 12, from 4:30- 7:30 p.m. Representatives from 15 Michigan colleges and universities will be on hand as well as experts from the State of Michigan to discuss options for paying for college.
Theatre Department presents special interpretation of "Hamlet" during March and April
Schoolcraft College’s Theatre Department presents Dinner Theatre performances of Hamlet on Mar. 22-23 and Apr. 5-6, and Theatre performances Apr. 12-13, 2013. The Dinner Theatre performances begin at 6:30 p.m. with a delicious dinner served in the VisTaTech Center followed by the performance at 8 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Theatre on the college’s main campus in Livonia. Tickets are $24 for Dinner Theatre performances and $12 for Theatre only performances.

Transition Center Luncheon to focus on "Marvelous Michigan Women" on Jan. 25

The Schoolcraft College Theatre Department’s winter production is Hamlet. Auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 15 and 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Theatre. No previous theatre experience is required and the auditions are open to all students, faculty, staff, and the general public. The annual Spirit Night doubleheader basketball games will be played November 28 in the PE Building on the college's main campus in Livonia. Empty Bowl Project sale and luncheon is December 4
The annual Empty Bowl Project sale and luncheon will be held on Tuesday, December 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bowls and other ceramic pieces created by students will be available to purchase, ranging from $10-35, and include a bowl of soup, a piece of bread and a glass of water. Proceeds benefit the college's Student Food Pantry.

On Thursday, October 18, students are encouraged to attend the second annual Complete the Degree Fair in Lower Waterman from 10 a.m - 2 p.m. Students will learn about the benefits of completing a degree and some of the resources available for achieving that goal. Pageturners explores autism in September with book discussions and movie screenings
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon is the focus of Pageturners book club's September 2012 selection. In addition to three book discussion opportunities, Pageturners will host two screenings of the 2010 HBO movie Temple Grandin throughout the week of September 24-27. The book and the movie both explore issues related to autism, but each from a different perspective.

The free Michigan Child ID Program provides parents and guardians with a "Child ID Package" that contains all the vital information necessary to expedite law enforcement efforts to locate a missing child. On Saturday, May 5, 2012, Schoolcraft College celebrated its 47th annual Commencement Ceremony at Compuware Arena in Plymouth, MI. Of the 1,696 students eligible to participate (those earning an associate degree or certificate), 440 graduates donned their caps and gowns and invited friends and family to celebrate their accomplishments.

On Wednesday, April 18, Schoolcraft College will host a free concert by Martha Guth, soprano, and Jean Schneider, piano. The concert will be held at noon in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia. This is the final performance in the 2011-12 Noon Concert Series.

The college's production of Romeo and Juliet is a special one, edited by Professor James R. Hartman, for more accessibility and ease of understanding. The college's Theatre Department will present Romeo and Juliet March 23-24 and 30-31 in Dinner Theatre form for $24 per person and as Theatre only performances April 13-14 for $12 per person.
Eighth graders invited to have fun and learn about college options at Middle School College night
Eighth graders and their families are invited to Middle School College Night, where they can play games and learn how choices in high school create options for college. The event is free and open to the public. It includes on-site representatives from colleges and universities throughout Michigan and a presentation by the Michigan Department of Treasury titled "How to Pay for College."
Spaghetti Dinner and Wine Glow supports scholarships for students
The college's annual Spaghetti Dinner and Wine Glow will be held Tuesday, March 20. Tickets are $35 per person and all proceeds benefit the scholarships and programs provided by the Transition Center. The evening’s festivities will include a 5:30 p.m. Wine Glow, Dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a brief program at 7:30 p.m. The Schoolcraft College Synthesizer Ensemble will provide musical entertainment throughout the evening and there will be a 50/50 raffle drawing.

The highlight of the evening’s activities is a basketball doubleheader against area rival, Henry Ford Community College. Tickets are only $5.00 for adults and a $10.00 admission includes a t-shirt. Discounted tickets for students are part of Schoolcraft College Night at the Plymouth Whalers hockey game at Compuware Arena on Saturday, February 11. The night is a celebration of the long-running partnership between Schoolcraft and the Whalers.

The annual winter School Daze event welcoming students back to campus for the winter semester will be held January 24-25 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Lower Waterman in the VisTaTech Center. In the second installment of Schoolcraft College’s 2011-12 Friday Evening Music Series, cellist Robert deMaine and pianist Pauline Martin will perform on Friday, November 18 at 8 p.m. The concert will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college’s main campus in Livonia. Schoolcraft celebrates Grand Re-Opening of I-275 Trail
Cyclists, walkers and hikers will enjoy events scheduled for the South Parking Lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, June 4, as the community celebrates the newly repaved trail along I-275.
Electric Vehicle Show & Rally draws 2,000 to campus
Some 2,000 people attended the Third Annual Electric Vehicle Show and Rally at Schoolcraft June 11. They had the opportunity to see the cars up-close, talk to the owners, and go for a short ride in an EV with the owner driving. There were also displays of new products and services; a presentation on how to convert from gas-powered cars to electric power; and information about SC's programs related to the EV industry. The event was free and open to the public.
Piano Academy to host Open House for children and adults on May 22
On Sunday, May 22, from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. children and their parents are invited to attend a special Open House to learn more about Schoolcraft’s Piano Academy for grades 1-12. The Piano Academy begins in September and runs through the school year with 32 weeks of group and private lessons. The Open House will be held in the Forum Building on the college’s main campus in Livonia.
Senior Expo comes to Schoolcraft College on May 17
Once again Schoolcraft College will be the site for the 8th annual Spring Senior Expo presented by the Observer & Eccentric and Hometown Newspapers, WWJ-950 AM and AM 580. The free Senior Expo will run from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and will feature a variety of activities including workshops, demonstrations, prizes and activities.
Golf Classic Fore Scholarships is June 6 at Walnut Creek Country Club
The Schoolcraft College Foundation will be hosting the 28th Annual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships on Monday, June 6 at the Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon. Think Pink and support breast cancer research on February 9
On Wednesday, February 9 Schoolcraft College is once again sponsoring the Pink Zone to benefit the Kay Yow WBCA (Women Coaches Basketball Association) Breast Cancer Research Fund. The highlight of the evening’s activities is a basketball doubleheader against area rival, Oakland Community College. The women will play at 5:30 p.m. and the men will play at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person and a $10 admission includes a special commemorative t-shirt.

More than 400 students to participate in ceremony
On Saturday, May 3, Schoolcraft College will celebrate its 43rd commencement. The ceremony will be held at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth starting at 4 p.m. More than 1,300 students are eligible to receive diplomas in the ceremony, with about 420 students participating in the actual ceremony.
Music is in the air
Throughout the month of April, music lovers will have several opportunities to enjoy a wide range of musical stylings. Recitals and concerts include: Honors Recital, April 11; Collage Concert, April 12; Free Noon Concert Series performance, April 16; and Friday Evening Concert Series, April 18.
VisTa Gala is April 5
The Art of Fine Dining will be experienced at this year’s VisTa Gala on Saturday, April 5. Patrons of this annual event will have the unique opportunity for an intimate look inside the college’s six state-of-the-art culinary kitchens, mingle with world-class culinary chefs and enjoy the best cuisine the area has to offer. Tickets are $150 per person, $90 of which is tax-deductible.
Six performances of "Marat/Sade"
After 14 years and numerous requests for a return engagement, the Schoolcraft College Theatre Program will once again perform Peter Weiss’ unforgettable drama Marat/Sade for six performances in the coming weeks.
2008 Public Safety Career Expo March 11
On Tuesday, March 11, 2008 students and the public can explore the possibility of a career in public safety and examine first-hand law enforcement, fire, rescue and investigative vehicles and equipment at the annual Public Safety Career Expo at the Radcliff Center in Garden City.
Free Classical Concert at Noon Feb. 20
On Wednesday, February 20, Schoolcraft College will host a free classical concert at noon. Featured performers are violinist Aaron Berofsky and pianist Phillip Bush. They will be playing a selection of Beethoven’s sonatas for violin and piano in the Presentation Room of the VisTaTech Center.
8th graders invited to explore college options Feb. 5
Eighth graders and their parents can get an early start on preparing for college by attending Middle School College Night at Schoolcraft College. The event is Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the DiPonio Room of the VisTaTech Center of the college’s Livonia campus.
Free Concert on January 30
On Wednesday, January 30, music aficionados can enjoy a free concert featuring soprano, Melanie Helton, accompanied by pianist, Judy Kabodian. The concert will be held at noon in the Presentation Room of the VisTaTech Center on Schoolcraft College’s Livonia campus.
Governor & Civil Rights Director to visit Jan. 21
On Monday, January 21, The Michigan Department of Civil Rights and the Office of Governor Granholm will host the second annual “Governor’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Youth Roundtable on Diversity and Michigan’s Future” in the DiPonio Room in VisTaTech.
Sounds of the Season - Free Concerts
Music lovers have three wonderful opportunities to enjoy the sounds of the season during December, courtesy of Schoolcraft College’s Music Department. All of the concerts are free and open to the public.
Free Classical Music Concert, Noon, Nov. 28
Pauline Martin, Nancy Ambrose-King and Amy Porter will combine their instruments and talents to produce a unique and masterful ensemble performance on Wednesday, Nov. 28 in the Presentation Room in VisTaTech at noon. The concert is free and open to the public.
Premier craft show Nov. 8 & 9
Just in time for the holiday season, Schoolcraft College’s annual fall craft show is set for Saturday, Nov. 8, 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Parking is free. Admission is $2 for adults and children 12 and older, 50 cents for children five to twelve, and children under five are admitted free.
Halloween Concert Oct. 28th
The annual Halloween Concert will be held Sunday, October 28 at 7 p.m. at Radcliff Center in Garden City. This family-friendly concert and is free and open to the public. In addition to the performances by the Wind Ensemble and Synthesizer Ensemble there will be a children’s costume parade. Everyone is encouraged to attend in costume and join the fun! Refreshments will follow the performances and parade.

An entire village made of gingerbread, candy and the imaginations of culinary arts students will be on display until December 15 in the lobby of the VisTaTech Center during regular business hours.

Africa is a land of many faces and diverse environments. Nearly one billion people and a stunning array of wildlife coexist on this enormous and complex piece of earth.
Schoolcraft hosting Career Fair for high school students April 21
Area high school students are invited to participate in a night of career exploration at Schoolcraft College on Tuesday, April 21. The High School Career Fair will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center located on Schoolcraft’s main campus in Livonia.
Collage XVIII Concert is March 14 at 8 p.m. in VisTaTech Center
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and $3 for children and senior citizens.
Senior Expo at Schoolcraft on May 19
Celebrate senior life at the sixth annual Senior Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the VisTaTech Center at Schoolcraft College. More than 60 exhibitors, demonstrations, music and educational programs will be offered throughout the day. Free admission and free parking are available.
