Evaluating Web Sites:
Hot Links Work

Because web masters do not control the content of other people's web sites, it is inevitable that a hot link will go bad. One on-line instructor at Schoolcraft College likes to tell the story about how his students were unable to access a web site that was to serve as the basis for a weekly discussion because it had disappeared. The instructor had checked the site and it was working just a few days earlier.

However, if multiple links on a page are not working, it is likely that the web site is not being routinely updated and the credibility of the web site must be questioned.

Please note: The Writing Fellows Program routinely checks all of the links on our site. If, however, you do discover a link that is broken, we would appreciate it if you would let us know by sending an e-mail to fellows@schoolcraft.edu.
