Teach Act Rubric

The TEACH Act Rubric was designed to help members of the Schoolcraft College Faculty determine whether or not they can make a particular piece of copyrighted material available on-line to their students.

The responsibility for complying with the TEACH Act is shared between the college and the individual faculty member. This rubric lists both the college’s and the faculty member’s responsibilities. A printer friendly version of this rubric may be obtained by requesting Writing Fellows Handout #H014 from fellows@schoolcraft.edu.

Avoiding Plagiarism

If faculty members expect their students to avoid plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty, we must make sure that we are models of integrity. “How,” might a student ask, “can you tell us that it is not acceptable to steal someone else’s words while you are stealing someone else’s copyright?”
