Electronic Portfolio Program
Core Skills
All programs at Schoolcraft College will require a Learning Outcomes Project which you must complete to fulfill the Core Skills requirements (formerly known as General Education Goal requirement). As a part of your program requirement, you will need to complete a Learning Outcomes project so that you can demonstrate the skills, knowledge and attitudes that you have learned at Schoolcraft. We believe that the Learning Outcomes projects most clearly align with the same skills, knowledge and attitudes that employers will want to use when you apply for a job. Such projects include:
- Capstone Project
- Electronic Portfolio
- National Standardized Exam
- Intern/Externship
- Other—alternative Learning Outcomes project, approved by the Assessment team/Curriculum Committee.
You should check with your program advisor or counselor to make sure what types of Learning Outcomes projects are accepted.
Of the four Learning Outcomes projects, the Electronic Portfolio most clearly impresses the employer with your abilities. We have seen that students are more successful in winning the job of their choice with an Electronic Portfolio.
Even if your program does not require the Electronic Portfolio as a Learning Outcomes project, you are still more than welcome to create your Electronic Portfolio. You are encouraged to do an Electronic Portfolio in addition to meeting your program’s requirements. We welcome you to enroll in COLLS 111 (entry course) and COLLS 211 (exit course).
