Open Entry/Open Exit Course Specific Requirements

All OE/OE coursework can be completed in the OE/OE lab or in the McDowell Building Computer Labs. However, if you wish to work from home, below is a listing of the software needed by course.

The following Open Entry/Open Exit courses have specific requirements in addition to the general computer system requirements:

Software and Equipment Requirements

  • ACCT 263 requires Adobe Reader, Microsoft Excel; See internet and technology requirements.
  • ART 115 requires Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader.
  • ART 201 requires Adobe Reader.
  • BIOL 103 requires Microsoft Word; Microsoft Office recommended.
  • BIOL 114 requires Microsoft Word; Microsoft Office recommended.
  • BIOL 115 requires Adobe reader, Microsoft Word; Microsoft Office recommended.
  • BIOL 240 has no software requirements.
  • BUS 101 requires Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to submit assignments; Microsoft Excel.
  • BUS 120 requires Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to submit assignments.
  • BUS 217 requires Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to submit assignments.
  • CIS 105 requires Microsoft Office 2013 or Above or Open Office.
  • CIS 115 see Internet requirements above; requires Word 2013 or above. Requires you to submit assignments containing photographs that you have taken. This can be accomplished with a device capable of taking a picture such as a digital camera or cell phone.
  • CIS 120 requires Microsoft Office 365 University or Professional, SNAP (Windows 7 or higher, Internet Explorer 11, Firefox 44.0, Chrome 49.0, Edge 25) SNAP 365 (MACs only).
  • CIS 122 requires Microsoft Outlook 2016 required or compatible email account.
  • CIS 129 requires PYTHON 3.4.2 or above (can be downloaded free).
  • CIS 170 requires Microsoft Word 2007 or later to submit assignments. Microsoft Windows 10 highly recommended, but optional (Windows 10 is available in the OE/OE lab).
  • CIS 171 requires a recent version of an HTML5 capable web browser. This includes one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 10 or later, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera.
  • CIS 172 requires Office 2007 or hgher. Recent version of an HTML capable web browser. This includes one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 10 or later, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera.
  • CIS 176 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version.
  • CIS 178 requires Windows 7/8.1/10, Mac OS 10.8 or higher.  HTML5 capable modern browser (Internet Explorer 10 or higher, Firefox 42 or higher, Chrome 31 or higher, Safari) Online access code required and is available in the Schoolcraft Bookstore.
  • CIS 180 requires Microsoft Excel 2016, Office 2016.
  • CIS 185 requires a text editor (Notepad ++), and Internet access. For Windows:  Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher; for Macintosh: Safari 3.0.
  • CIS 211 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version.
  • CIS 215 requires Microsoft Office 2016 or OFfice 2016 software that accompanies the book/MyITlab.
  • CIS 221 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2017 or current version.
  • CIS 223 requires Microsoft Visual Studio Pro/VS Community 2015.
  • CIS 225 Microsoft Access 2016 or Office 2016 Pro that includes Access or Office Software that accompanies the book/MyITlab.
  • CIS 235 requires an online access code that is available in the Schoolcraft Bookstore.
  • CIS 238 requires Aptana Studio 3.6.1. See Internet requirements.
  • CIS 251 requires Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and software that accompanies the book. See Internet requirements.
  • CIS 273 requires Office 2007 or higher. Recent version of HTML capable web browser. This includes one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 10 or later, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera.
  • CIS 290 requires JAVA Developers Environment(jGrasp/Eclipse classic) that can be downloaded from the Internet.
  • COMA 103 requires you to submit digital video of speeches. This can be accomplished with a device capable of recording digital video such as a webcam.
  • ENG 101 requires Microsoft Word; Microsoft Office recommended.
  • ENG 102 requires Microsoft Word; Microsoft Office recommended.
  • ENG 243 requires Microsoft Word; Microsoft Office recommended.
  • ENVR 107 requires Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • GEOG 133 requires Adobe Reader and Google Earth.
  • GEOG 212 requires Microsoft Word to submit assignments; PowerPoint for project (note: Students can use Word for the project if they don’t have PowerPoint).
  • GEOG 217 requires PowerPoint for project (note: Students can use Word for the project if they don’t have PowerPoint).
  • HIST 134 requires Power Point.
  • HIST 138 requires Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader.

  • HUM 106 requires Microsoft Word and a media player.

  • MUSIC 104 requires EMT on the Web and headphones; Adobe Flash.
  • OIS 100 requires GDP 11th Edition Online Software Student Registration ID Card.
  • OIS 102 requires GDP 11th Edition Online Software Student Registration ID Card and Microsoft Word 2016. 
  • OIS 105 requires Microsoft Word to submit assignments.
  • OIS 185 requires Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 or Office 2016/MyITlab.
  • OIS 195 requires Microsoft Word to submit assignments.
  • OIS 255 requires Microsoft Word to submit assignments.
