Middle school and high school students and their parents are invited to attend a free Technical Career Open House at Schoolcraft College. There is a lack of skilled technical workers in the world today. Schoolcraft College and local area businesses are trying to solve this issue by working together to develop training programs that lead to well-paying professional jobs in manufacturing and production fields. Now, awareness needs to be raised among middle and high school students about these careers and the training opportunities available to them.
During the Technical Career Open House, students and their parents will be introduced to the manufacturing, metallurgy, welding, CAD and electronics fields. Schoolcraft College faculty will be on hand providing tours and demonstrations in the college’s various technical and production labs. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities, including the CNC machine operations, and tensile testing from the metallurgy department and many others.
In addition, many local businesses will be on hand to share what they do and provide information about future job opportunities. The Open House will be held in the Applied Sciences Building on the college's main campus in Livonia.
