Certified Master Chef Brian Beland recently joined the Schoolcraft College Culinary Arts Department faculty, adding a new chapter to the college’s long history of excellence in culinary instruction. Considering there are less than 100 Certified Master Chefs in the United States, Schoolcraft’s Culinary Arts Department Chair Shawn Loving had a tall order with the recent retirement of Certified Master Chefs Dan Hugelier and Kevin Gawronski. Chef Beland was the perfect solution.
Beland, 34, comes to Schoolcraft College after 10 years as the Executive Chef at the Country Club of Detroit. He is currently teaching the rigorous, five week International Cuisine course to second year students in the culinary program.
