Course Description

This course centers on the basic functions of the management process which are decision making, organizing, staffing, planning, controlling, communicating, and directing.

Prerequisites

Course Competencies

Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Employ basic terms used in business management.
  • Analyze the functions, principles, and characteristics of effective management.
  • Characterize the contributions of historical perspective to current management thought and practice.
  • Compare management and leadership.
  • Evaluate decision situations, decision processes, and the use of decision models.
  • Explain the role of culture in corporate environments.
  • Resolve ethical dilemmas related to management.
  • Relate authority, responsibility and accountability relationships within the organization.
  • Improve the structure of an organization.
