The Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database was recently revamped by the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Office of Management and Budget, General Services Administration and the Department of Defense to improve accuracy and streamline the data entry process for small businesses.

As of April 18, 2005, the SBA began using its Small Business Logic to determine the small business status of companies registered in the CCR. Small businesses no longer will be required to self-certify on the CCR database as a SBA-certified small disadvantaged business, 8(a)- certified business or HUBZone-certified business type. The SBA now will mark the business fields in the CCR database to indicate whether a business is SBA-certified small disadvantaged, 8(a)-certified or HUBZone-certified.

Small businesses registering in the CCR database or updating their profile in the database will now be presented with a small business fraud and misrepresentation acknowledgement statement which lists the penalties imposed for misrepresentation as a small business.

The SBA will use the Small Business Logic function within the dynamic Small Business Search database to indicate the small business size status of each firm against each North American Industry Classification System code listed.

The CCR database also will begin using only 2002 North American Industry Classification System codes. Additional information on the new upgrades to the CCR database may be found on the SBA’s Web site at www.sba.gov/size at “What’s New?”
