Learning Disabilities (3-0) 3 Cr. Hrs.

Course Description

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the perceptual and learning issues of learning disabled children and special education programs in the public school which provide specialized learning situations for them. The diagnosis of disorders of visual and auditory perception, language, motor coordination, cognition and attention deficit related to the learning processes are discussed as well as specific recommendations for remediation and implications for school planning.

  • Summarize the key aspects of visual and auditory perception disorders.
  • Summarize the key aspects of language and communication disorders.
  • Summarize the key aspects attention deficit disorders.
  • Contrast educational setting options for persons with learning disabilities.
  • Verify appropriate behavior management strategies in educational settings for children with learning disabilities.
  • Explain the Child Protection Law as related to mandated reporters.
