The plastic technology skills certificate prepares learners for employment in the plastics industry. The curriculum is designed to help the student acquire knowledge, skills and behaviors necessary for a competent molding operator or technician. The program explores plastic materials, processes, equipment and tooling, trouble-shooting, maintenance, quality and safety. This unique program is taught by industry experts, and includes a combination of lecture and lab courses, and assignments at local plastic manufacturing companies.
Protective shop clothing and eye protection supplies required for the program will be purchased by the student.
All courses are not offered each semester. Students should work with an academic advisor or counselor to develop a schedule that will work for them. Students who satisfactorily complete the program requirements qualify for a certificate of program completion. All program required courses must have been completed with a grade of 2.0 or better.
